Marine Biology, Oceanography and Maritime Science

I am a biologist by training and became a sailor mostly because I studied near the Great Lakes. In combination, these two passions lead to an integrative understanding of recreation and creation: sailing gains a new perspective if you learn about the environment in which you sail.

Learning about the oceans, marine ecosystems and the natural history of the planet's seas offers a great opportunity to experience an aspect of sailing you might neglect otherwise.

I collected the following links in an attempt to guide you to resources that will tell you more about a topic only indirectly related to sailing or cruising - but crucial for enjoying it! Have fun and let me know if there are good links you would like to have included.
